Neston, a little town steeped in history, sits in north-west Cheshire at the southern end of the Wirral peninsula next to the Dee marshes, overlooking the Dee estuary and hills of North Wales. Neston Company of Archers is a small, friendly group of members who are currently very successful in local, county and national tournaments. We also have members who are quite content just shooting on home ground.

Recurve, compound and longbows are all shot by members, (see picture on the right,) plus the occasional flat bow, bare bow and training bows.

3 types of bow shoot at the same time - NCoA

We have 2 Cheshire archery coaches and 2 Cheshire instructors who are members of the club and beginners courses are run at fairly regular intervals.

If you feel you would like to know more about our beginners courses just follow this link Beginners.  If you would like to have a go or join Neston Company of Archers please go to our contacts page.   Neston Company of Archers caters for all ages and disabled archers so don't be shy come and have a go.

Where We Are

In summer we shoot outdoors at Wirral Rugby Club on Thornton Common Road near Thornton Hough.  From the Clatterbridge roundabout at M53 junction 4, follow the signs to Willaston and the club house is easily visible after about 1 mile on your left beyond its rugby and cricket field (multimap / summer).  For the shooting ground follow the path round the field at the back of the clubhouse.

Shooting is generally:-

Tuesdays 6:00pm till dusk :-             Beginners and Improvers with the coaching team

Thursdays 6:00pm till dusk :-           Club coaching sessions ( archers with own equipment)

Sundays 1:00pm till early evening :-  Club shooting under Field Captain

Please attend in plenty of time to get your targets set up. These are stored in the container on the field and will need to be brought out on the trolley.  Assistance will be given in how to set up the stands and bosses and distances.

Please note that the fields are used for other sports and care is needed in making sure no equipment or rubbish is left on the grounds.  In particular arrows should be counted before and after shooting and if any are mislaid a record should be made of the general area it was lost and a club officer informed.  Sheets in the container are used to register lost arrows.

In the winter we shoot indoors in the gymnasium at Pensby High School for Boys on Irby Road between Heswall and Irby (googlemap/winter)

 Times in winter (2008 / 2009) are:

Tuesdays  7:00pm to 9:00pm

Sundays  Midday to 2:00pm Beginners / New Members /  Juniors

Sundays  2:00pm to 4:00pm experienced members
